Pappy's advice

Yesterday we had a Blackhawk story set in the Amazon. Here's another Amazon story along with some advice. You may thank me someday. When in the jungle looking for someone if you come across a man with a pet ape, and the man introduces himself as Dr. Death, do not tarry, do not linger. Turn around and walk, no, run away from him.

The dumb people in "The Shrunken Heads of Dr. Death" would have benefited from that advice.

From Quality Comics' Web of Evil #12, 1954.

Sadly, I've got some people who are this dumb working for me, so I'm on Dr. Death's side on this one.

Hurm....reminds me much of WHITE ZOMBIE starring Bela Lugosi...hurm, humph, humph....yes quite so.

Pappy: Sound advice. I think the pet chimp thing would have put me off anyway, with or without the Dr. Death part. Never trust a man with a pet chimp.

Loved this story. I found the ending really chilling. I imagined her voice at the end kind of sing-songy. Brrr. -- Mykal

This one did have a weirdly somber sort of ending than usual... at first I was going to say that Marie seemed more freaked out by the shrunken chimp head than her own brother, but I guess by that point she had already lost her mind. Good post Pappy!

Well, Dr. Death wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer either... using a label with big, bold letters to identify Lola's head in the secret compartment.

He should've taken up dentistry.

Mitchell is reminded of White Zombie, but I am reminded of Dark Eyes of London (aka “The Human Monster”) and of course of The Most Dangerous Game.

Marie doesn't seem to miss Guy much at the end, huh?
