Bulldog Drumhead
Bulldog Drumhead was a take-off on then-popular literary detective Bulldog Drummond. Does anyone even remember that character?
Ron Santi did the fine artwork for this strip from All-American's Funny Stuff #6, Fall, 1945. He also did the artwork on another well-drawn strip I showed you in Pappy's #212.

I'm not sure if I've heard the name of Ron Santi before, Pappy, and it's a darn shame too since his artwork here is very fun, lush and beautiful.

I remember Bulldog Drummond too... in fact, Bulldog Drummond's Secret Police is one of my fave old flicks ever!
As I've found out in the few years of our acquaintance, you guys are exceptional. I'm supposing if you asked any number of people about Bulldog Drummond most wouldn't know who you were talking about. They might have heard the name, but couldn't identify him as a fictional character.
I wish I had more examples of Ron Santi's art to post, but what I've shown is all I have.
Many of the movies using the character Bulldog Drummond have slipt into the public domain, and may be found at the Internet Archive.
Probably the only people who know Bulldog Drummond would be old movie fans, though as part of a research project I read the first four novels. They're pretty trippy pre-pulp stuff!
Alan Moore evidently remembered the original book character enough to redo him in BLACK DOSSIER as "Hugo Drummond" (the original character's real name was "Hugh.")
I'm glad to see you reprinting obscure kid-humor. My own liking is for obscure TEEN humor, so I'm gratified that you've printed some of this as well.

I am not sure what this website is about. I was googling the name of my decease Uncle, Ron Santi, and I hit your website. My uncle Ron was an animator in the 30's, 40's, and 50's. He has been forgotton. No one seems to know him although he worked for Looney Tunes, Terrytunes, Disney. He animated Heckle & Jeckle, invented Frosty the Snowman. I don't know about Bulldog Drummond and I cannot recognize his artwork, he kept so little of it. His real name was Romolo A. Santi, known as Ronnie.
