Do you believe in magic?

In this story from Ibis the Invincible #1, from 1942, a couple of thuggish magicians sue a rich woman who doesn't believe in magic. I've heard of frivolous lawsuits before, but this one's a lulu. They scare her with a spectral nag called Nightmare, not to be confused with Casper's Nightmare:

It's all just more Fawcett comic book silliness from our 4,000-year-old resurrected Egyptian magician and his longtime lover, Taia. We've shown stories from this comic before. The first two pages of the store are damaged so I patched them with pages from the Flashback reprint of the 1970s.

There will be more from Fawcett and Flashback on Friday.

I'll never claim to have good taste, but I liked it. Thanks for brightening my Monday! :)

Thanks, Steve. I'm always glad to brighten a Monday. Ours was pretty dark around here as Autumn storms roll in. A good day to loiter at the computer reading Pappy's!

Wowww. Planting evidence of a crime that didn't take place to avenge a crime that couldn't be prosecuted. And "dream pipes!"

During the "facial massage" bit I couldn't help imagining a young Ricardo Montalban playing Ibis.

BillyWD: A young Ricardo Montalban sounds about right for Ibis. I never think of actors in the roles of comic characters, but I've got a Captain Marvel story coming up on Friday, and C. C. Beck is reputed to have used Fred MacMurray as his model for that character.

I think I'll see if Amazon.com sells dream pipes.
