If you are a religious person do you get offended by stories which treat Bible stories as funny? Just curious. The Old Testament is the basis for a lot of fiction, with endless variations. In this case I am showing a Supermouse story which is inspired by the story of Noah and the great flood. Stories of floods that destroy the world go back further than the Bible, but for our purposes the Noah and his ark story is the basis for this particular funny animal comic version from Supermouse #36 (1956).
Artwork is by Milt Stein.

Number 609
Supermouse and a whale of a tale
Supermouse returns to Pappy's after a long absence. This story comes from Supermouse The Big Cheese Summer Holiday Issue #1, a 100-page special dated 1957. I've mined this giant reprint comic for stories before. It's not inexhaustible, but there are still a couple more I'll be showing at some time.
It's drawn by Milton Stein. Jim Engel once described him to me as THE Supermouse artist. I agree.
I've shown other Stein Supermouse stories in Pappy's #126, Pappy's #202, Pappy's #288, and Pappy's #369. I know people like these strips because occasionally I run into my scans being posted on other blogs.

Number 392
Super Mighty Mice
There was a time in the 1950s when both Supermouse and Mighty Mouse were published by the same company. Pines Comics took over Paul Terry's Mighty Mouse from St. John, and Supermouse was continuing from being under the Standard Comics logo to publisher Ned Pines' final comic book imprint, Pines Comics.
For some reason the issues of Mighty Mouse during this era had no numbering. This story is from the July, 1957 issue; the Supermouse strip is from the 100-page giant, Supermouse Summer Holiday Issue #1, published for summer, 1957.
