(Before we get down to today's posting, after you've finished here go to Apocolyte's World Of Comics for an interview with yours truly. Apocolyte has also done the incredible job of re-posting several early entries from this blog, so you don't have to go back and search them out yourself. He's done all the work for you!) Now back to our regularly scheduled blog...
My grandkids love the Walt Disney version of
Walt Kelly liked
That last panel Pappy has a Windsor McCay, Little Nemo feel to it. It would probably be a difficult task at this stage of the game, but I would love to find out who influenced some of the great Golden Age comic artists like Kelly & Barks etc. I'll bet NC Wyeth's name would come up a lot !
ReplyDeleteI believe you'd be right, along with artists like Arthur Rackham, Gustav Tenggren, and other illustrators of the fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI can NEVER get enough Kelly. THANKS Pappy!
ReplyDeleteIn the top right panel on the second page, where Cinderella says "If I only had a real bed to sleep in", look at the expression on the chair with purple cushions.
ReplyDeletePriceless!
Thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad Kelly isn't getting the reprint treatment so many others are at this stage. No library is complete without Walt Kelly.
Awesome !
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the coolest Kelly stories I've never seen! If you know what I mean. I am with Kirk on this one, I love all the whimsical faces he puts on the chair, the fireplace, etc...
How can anyone not love this?
Thanks, Pappy!
