Old Bugeyes is back
Froggy went a'courtin' —
horror- — in this slimy tale from
Journey Into Fear #19, from 1954.
Sorry about the reproduction;
Journey Into Fear was published by Canadian publisher, Superior, whose printer was definitely inferior.
It's tragic to see heroic advertising folk suffer such a fate! But, in any event, this story just explains an awful lot about Canada.
ReplyDeleteNot the currently-popular Ickeian Reptiloids but Canadian Amphibioids! Very SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH which described a sort of Amphibioid devolution from mammal to fish... In Edward Bulwer Lytton's THE COMING RACE, the 'Vril-ya' believed themselves decended from frogs...
ReplyDeleteActually, maybe this story represents thinly veiled, Anglo-Canadian fear of Quebecois take-over.
ReplyDeleteApparently Kermit was right, it's not easy being green (if you're a human now transformed!)
ReplyDeleteI hope Kitty doesn't hear any of this Canadian bashing... her claws are sharp!
Effective, and a little gross. A-.
