I agree with you that C...Thanks for posting, Pappy! I agree with you that Cole penciled this story. I also think it's possible he inked it. Although the inking is not stylistically similar to his earlier work, this story is very consistent with his work of the early 1950's. During that last phase of his comic book career, Cole's forms became more three dimensional and his panels were drenched in inky black shadows. Also, intense, extraordinary, Goya-like images of terror and suffering became the visual centerpieces of these last, very strange stories.Paul C.Tumeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05398929835829679477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31723906.post-63752159259599054722010-09-07T07:37:28.311-07:002010-09-07T07:37:28.311-07:00Thanks Pappy, I'm gonna love reading this one!...Thanks Pappy, I'm gonna love reading this one!Mr. Karswellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15889717828895556186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31723906.post-500122873985554982010-09-06T17:31:17.037-07:002010-09-06T17:31:17.037-07:00Daniel, I wish I'd thought of that line.Daniel, I wish I'd thought of that line.Pappyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01977289662431694607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31723906.post-41248014036254493072010-09-06T06:08:26.447-07:002010-09-06T06:08:26.447-07:00That story had a clever … twist … ending. That story had a clever … twist … ending.Daniel [oeconomist.com]https://www.blogger.com/profile/06763094285750736837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31723906.post-17474225547422646522010-09-05T19:20:59.454-07:002010-09-05T19:20:59.454-07:00Pappy: "figures in motion from unusual angles...Pappy: "figures in motion from unusual angles" - that's Cole alright.

Man, the inker sure did put his stamp on this one, didn't he? I can usually tell Cole by his layouts and the arrangement of the action in a panel. As with page 8, he drew figures in motion from unusual angles.Pappyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01977289662431694607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31723906.post-69156395638461042292010-09-05T17:12:44.642-07:002010-09-05T17:12:44.642-07:00Yow! The heavy blacks give Plas a real drama and edginess - maybe even a darkness for an extra dimension (which I guess was probably the intent).

I don't know, either, of course (Pap, ol' boy, if you don't know, I haven't got a prayer). But it does look like Cole's layouts and composition to me.Mykal Bantahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12148489896145024134noreply@blogger.com
